Naturally, children respond to and require a completely different style of counseling. Sandtray therapy has become a recognized and effective form of child centered play therapy. This type of therapy allows children to express their feelings when they are unable to articulate or understand emotions they may be experiencing.

With prompt and skilled therapy interventions for coping with divorce, therapy for children is often more brief than for adults, as they have had a shorter time in which to develop symptoms and are generally flexible and resilient.
